Recommended Android setup
Make Instagram intentional in about five minutes.
- Mute every Instagram notification that does not represent a direct person contacting you.
- Move Instagram off the first home screen so opening it requires one deliberate step.
- Select the Instagram app group in ScrollPause; both standard Instagram and Instagram Lite are covered.
- Start with Aware mode to interrupt longer sessions without granting Accessibility permission.
- If time-in-app is not precise enough, review the disclosure and choose Full Pause for real-time scroll events.
- Use the first reminder as a stopping cue. You are always free to continue when you opened Instagram for a real reason.
What the interruption does
It returns the decision without hijacking the app.
Instagram stays where you left it
A pause notification can open a short Discover item or guided breath. Close it and Instagram remains available. ScrollPause does not sign you out, delete content, or block DMs.
The feed is not inspected
Full Pause counts scroll signals. It does not read captions, images, messages, usernames, passwords, or anything you type. Personal history and insights remain on your device.

Can ScrollPause block Instagram Reels?
No. ScrollPause is not a Reels or feed blocker. It detects time in Instagram or scrolling patterns, sends a calm interruption, and lets you decide whether to continue.
Can I keep using Instagram DMs?
Yes. ScrollPause does not remove or lock any part of Instagram. Messages, posts, Stories, and Reels remain available; the intervention is a reminder rather than a restriction.
Does ScrollPause support Instagram Lite?
Yes. ScrollPause’s Instagram app group includes the standard Android Instagram package and Instagram Lite.
Does ScrollPause read what I view on Instagram?
No. Full Pause listens for Android scroll events, not the text, images, messages, or account shown on screen. It does not capture typed content or upload screen activity. See the complete permission explanation.
Do I need Full Pause for Instagram?
No. Gentle mode can send timed nudges and Aware mode can respond to a longer Instagram session. Full Pause is optional when you want scroll-level detection.
